Enduring Ground
Pip Stalley
Enduring Ground by Pip Stalley, an exhibition in BAMM’s Stairwell Gallery program, is a cohesive body of work developed from sustained observation of grazing land in Western New South Wales. Using restrained abstraction and natural earth pigments, the works explore landscape as surface, structure and atmosphere.
Paintings emerge from a process of slowing down and attending closely to place, finding quiet beauty within harsh conditions. Shaped by lived familiarity with the land she grew up on, the paintings hold a calm, grounding energy intended to sit with presence in interior spaces.
Stairwell Gallery
The Stairwell Gallery at BAMM is a new exhibition initiative activating the gallery’s internal stairwell as a curated exhibition space, open to independent artists and collectives. Connecting the ground floor and Level One of BAMM, the Stairwell Gallery offers a highly visible, light-filled environment and forms part of the gallery’s broader exhibition program.
The Stairwell Gallery is a transitional and connective space—one that is both functional and experiential. The Stairwell Gallery supports independent artistic practice and offers artists the opportunity to present work within the everyday flow of the museum, where art is encountered as part of a journey rather than a destination.
Opening: Thursday 23 April 5:30pm for 6pm
