Gamil-array-Thuuraay Light
Mona Fernando
In 2026, Kamilaroi artist Mona Fernando, in collaboration with young people from the local region, will create a new work of scale – Gamil-array-Thuuraay Light.
Through a series of workshops over the course of 10 weeks, young people aged 10 to 15 years will weave 100 lamp shades from lomandra, gathered on the banks of the Mehi River. Together, the individual lamp shades will form Gamil-array-Thuuraay Light: a resplendent, illuminated installation in the gallery.
Gamil-array-Thuuraay Light supported by Arts North West and Regional Arts NSW.
