Gamil-array-Thuuraay Light
Mona Fernando
In 2026, Gamilaroi/Gomeroi artist Mona Fernando with collaborating artist Debbie Wood, and over 200 young people from the local region, will create a new work of scale – Gamil-array-Thuuraay Light.
Through a series of workshops over the course of 10 weeks led by BAMM Education Officer Cate Gaston and Debbie, with young people aged 10 to 15 years, will weave 40 lamp shades. Together, the individual lamp shades will form Gamil-array-Thuuraay Light: a resplendent, illuminated installation in the gallery.
