Elsewhere

Beyond the Moree Plains

Elsewhere: Beyond the Moree Plains is an invitation to look outward — across distance, memory and Country — to landscapes shaped by lives lived elsewhere. Presented alongside From This Place, the exhibition traces a quiet expansion from the local to the distant, from here to beyond.

Through colour, gesture and form, artists translate landscape into something sensed rather than mapped. From the distinctive clarity of Ken Done to the late Sally Gabori’s powerful, rhythmic expressions of Country, the works resist fixed viewpoints, instead holding space for emotion, memory and connection. Together, works by Eubena Nampitjin, Queenie McKenzie, Norman Kelly Tjampitjinpa, Paddy Jaminji and others reveal landscape as something lived and imagined — carried within, rather than defined by distance.
