Euraba Paper Company was established in Boggabilla, NSW, in 1998 by nine senior Goomeroi women with a vision to create a place where culture, creativity, employment and community could come together. Euraba, meaning ‘place of healing’, became Australia’s first Indigenous handmade paper-making collective.

The artists are renowned for their distinctive handmade paper works, particularly large-scale cotton pulp paintings that share stories of Country, ancestors, culture and community. Initially experimenting with natural fibres, the artists developed a unique practice using recycled cotton rag sourced from the surrounding cotton industry, transforming a local material into works of significant cultural and artistic importance.

Over more than two decades, Euraba artists have exhibited widely and collaborated with leading Australian and international artists. Their work has won numerous prizes including the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Community Business Partnerships and the Parliament of New South Wales Art Prize in 2006 and again in 2010.
